This is the other 5x7 I was working on. I was playing with depth in the background, and I'm not sure it shows terribly well on screen, but the print and the original painting show all of the detail and I'm tickled pink about the results. I was working on something similar with the wood sprite I posted the other day, but the intent there was to have a well layered, soft background. On both of them I was playing around with masking fluid. I really like the depth it gives the background without me having to overwork the paint.

I like this a lot, though I have to say it looks like she doesn't have thumbs! :)
Your coloring is nice and vibrant and attractive. I'll be reading your blog from now on!

Thanks Keith - she definately has thumbs, they're just not showing :P
I like the shading details around the hands. Great work!
I also like the painting. She looks a bit surprised at whatever it is shes seeing. The depth is good and colors rich, warm and intriguing. Her face is quite expressive, too. Beautiful work!
